Mother's Day Gift Guide

This mother’s day is quite unique. Mothers have been quarantined in our homes with restless littles… doing our best to care for their needs and most likely at the cost of our own. This is a mother’s day list filled with items I would LOVE to receive as a gift for mother’s day. (hint hint hubby). Including items I would enjoy to have for our home, everyday life and most importantly, self care.

I tried to pick items that would arrive in time for mother’s day if ordered soon. Some items may be delayed but hopefully all us mom’s will be a little understanding under the current circumstances. If you’re a spouse or partner purchasing for your baby mama and are feeling worried about something you purchased not arriving on time, I would highly recommend a hand written letter on the day. The simplest of caring words can go a LONG way in a time like this. And may buy you a little extra time. You can even claim a month long mother’s day! No mom would complain about receiving multiple gifts. ;)

I have included items for a range of budgets with a few under $30 gifts. These are great if you’re like many families dealing with financial challenges but still wanting to do something special for that mama in your life. If you are needing some free creative ideas of things you can do or make, see below!

Free Gift Ideas

If you find yourself with no budget but really would like to do something nice, here are a few free ideas that would show your love!

01 Write a letter of appreciation // be sure to include your appreciation for all they do. This will go a LONG WAY.
02 Foot or Body Massage // Give her a “coupon” for after the kids go to bed and give her that much needed massage!
03 Make a bouquet // Pick flowers from your garden or ask a neighbor if you can grab a couple of theirs!
04 Cook breakfast // this may seem like an obvious one to some but if you could make her favorite breakfast food and she doesn’t have to lift a finger = LOVE. Be sure to clean it up as well = TRUE LOVE.
05 Give her a day off // If your mama has been complaining of no time alone, give her some time to lay in bed, watch her shows or take a REALLY long bath. The trick is NO interruptions. Meaning if you have littles, you keep them away.
06 Picnic in the backyard // if you have the space, this would be a great option for a mom who misses the outdoors. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just be the one to set it up and clean it up and it will be a meaningful gesture of your love.
07 Tackle that house project // If there is something around the house she has been complaining about or concerned about, FIX IT. A broken toilet paper holder mounted back on the wall can be such a wonderful gift if it’s been driving her crazy.
08 Clean the house // if your mama is the one who normally cleans the house, take it upon yourself to do a nice deep clean of the space. It can be labor intensive but see it as your workout for the day. ;)
09 Arrange a Zoom call with her besties // Sometimes a mom just needs some time to chat with her friends. Uninterrupted. Take the kids outside and set her up with a glass of wine.
10 Create a coupon book // My husband did this for me years ago and it still, to this day, has been one of the best most meaningful gifts. If you are creative enough and have the time, I would highly recommend this! If you don’t have the skillset to make it all designer looking, a hand written one works as well. :)
