Baby Registry - First Month

baby registry - first month essentials.png

With my sister in law just having delivered her first sweet little one, I thought I’d put together my favorite and most essential items for baby! There can be a lot of trial and error when purchasing items for your first little one. Know that there really isn’t a one size fits all. Some of you parents will opt for organic, eco only items and others will be content with the more common baby items. As you’ll see, my list contains a bit of both! I do my best to find the best deals and save money where I can. But there are certain items, like baby formula and detergent, that I choose to spend a little extra on as they can have a greater impact on the health of our little ones.

Over the next couple months I plan to share the entirety of our go to items. But in an effort to not overwhelm you soon to be mamas and papas, I’m going to break it down into separate posts so I can speak a little more about each category and item. As you know, or will soon find out, when baby arrives they will spend all their time sleeping, eating and pooping. So let’s jump right in to the items that will make that first 30 days just a little bit easier.

the essentials

01 // avent glass bottles - Easy and safe to warm up in the microwave (without the lid) when baby is screaming bloody murder for food.

02 // avent bottle warmer - for the times you actually plan ahead for feedings. Will heat it to the perfect temperature so you you don’t burn baby!

03 // lebenswert formula - after doing a lot of research we learned of cleaner formula coming out of Europe. This is now easily available and easy to ship!

04 // bottle brush - this things cleans so well and theres a little mini brush tucked inside for those hard to clean areas of the nipple.

05 // boon bottle drying rack - great for keeping baby’s things separate and sanitary.

06 // burts bees burp cloths - these are so soft and hide spit up stains well so they look like new after washing. We still use these for runny noses. :)

07 // boppy nursing pillow - this is great when they are so little you and others are afraid of dropping them while feeding or holding.

08 // lanolin nipple cream - this is THE BEST. If you are like most breastfeeding women and your nipple take a beating, this is so soothing and healing!

09 // nursing pads - this is great if you are prone to leaking. It always happens at the worse moments and these provide a little extra protection.

10 // burts bees hooded towel - we are still using ours 4 years later. Its absorbent and soft and a great bath time staple.

11 // aveeno wash + lotion - this is so gentle and leaves them smelling so yummy!

12 // sink friendly baby bath - this really is great for the first month especially when you don’t want to have to fill up the entire tub to wash a tiny little baby

13 // bamboo wash cloths - these are so incredibly soft and maintain their softness after washing.

14 // burts bees changing pad cover - another easy to wash and hides stains well which is ideal for a changing pad cover. Considering they WILL poop on it.

15 // changing pad - simple and affordable with safety walls to prevent them rolling off.

16 // changing pad liner - we actually used these for on the go or when we were not changing on the changing pad. Great to protect any surface and baby.

17 // butt paste - we tried the organic ones but honestly this was far superior to them all. A great alternative if you really don’t want a paste is coconut oil!

18 // pampers baby dry - these are great every day diapers. if you are looking for an organic options, pampers has the “pampers pure” line I would recommend.

19 // water wipes - these were a game changer for us. almost 100% water and never created a tearing up of the skin like the pampers wipes did. :/

20 // burts bees sleep sacs - these making changing a newborn so much easier. and you can sometimes even avoid waking them to change their diapers!

21 // muslin swaddles - i LOVE designer swaddles but these were far superior to some of the very expensive designer ones we had. so stinkin’ soft.

22 // stroller blanket - can be used anytime you need a little extra coverage or warmth

23 // nuna pipa carseat - this is definitely a splurge but it comes with a base that stays locked in to the car - super easy in out and snaps into their stroller too!

24 // ubbi diaper pail - this pail is great and has a clean line. an odor eliminator is a necessity as this is plastic and holds the pooh smells over time

25 // ubbi diaper bags - perfect fit with ubbi diaper pail

26 // odor eliminator - these are natural odor eliminators for the diaper pail

27 // pacifiers - neither one of my kids would take a pacifier but we bought a few of these and they have so many great color options too!

18 // pacifier clip - a necessity if you are using pacifiers. helps prevent them from constantly falling on the floor!

Whether you’re looking to keep things simple or trying to stick to a budget, I can honestly say these are the most essential items to survive those first 30 days. I will be putting together a more detailed list of the various categories relating to baby registries. Food, sleep, changing, bathing, etc. They will include my favorite designer versions, organic options and why we selected those items over others.
